Bradford Dolphin Swimming Club - About Us

Founded in 1888 Bradford Dolphin Swimming Club is one of the oldest swimming clubs in the Country. In the early days we were famous for water polo winning many National Championships and were the first club to win six national titles in a row. Today we concentrate on competitive swimming.

Our objectives are:

  • To improve and coach our members in the art of swimming
  • For those who wish to progress and compete in competition, our aim is to ensure that we arrange and enter the appropriate galas.
  • To encourage our swimmers to progress to the City of Bradford council run training scheme of which we were founder members and offer our full support.
  • Although we are a competitive club and we encourage swimmers to partake in galas, this is not compulsory. If you want to train once a week to keep fit but do not wish to compete, that is fine.

A voluntary committee elected by the membership runs the club. We do however offer expenses to retain the services of a Chief Coach. The Chief Coach has full responsibility for swimming matters and is helped by a group of enthusiastic volunteers.

The club and all its members are required to be registered with the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA).
